The 2014 Highground Memorial Day Ceremony opened with a roar on Monday as the Fun Run Motorcycle Rally entered the Highground. The Fun Run riders were welcomed into the park by the Loyal American Legion Post #175, Neillsville Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack #43, members of the AKF Martial Arts Academy and several volunteers from the gathered crowd.
The 4th Annual Memorial Day Fun Run, sponsored by Krachey’s BP in Boscobel, tripled in size this year. The rally was composed of four routes which originated in Neillsville (led by Mark Dawson), Tomah (led by Shane Dawson), Boscobel (led by Alan Palmer), and Minneapolis (led by Bob Frazee). Each group followed a scenic morning route, ultimately joining together before entering The Highground. The Fun Run raised over $1,800 to help The Highground continue in its mission of healing and education.
Several police and sheriff’s departments provided safety at intersections and through many towns along the routes for the large number of motorcycles. Among these departments were the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, West Salem Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and The Tomah Police Department. The Highground and the Fun Run riders wish to extend their gratitude to these departments and officers.
The 5th Annual Memorial Day Fun Run Motorcycle Rally will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015. If you are interested in joining the Fun Run as an individual rider, a group or if you would like to plan an additional route of the Fun Run please contact the Highground at 715-743-4224 or email
